Top 7 Reasons To Become A Defensive Driver

Wednesday, June 24th, 2009
Emmanuel Aubrey asked:

Why should you bother reading this article, well I know the topic isn’t fun in fact it makes me sleepy remembering my first driving class but there is some information here that could save your life and save you some money.

OK as you probably already figured the number one reason to be a defensive driver is because it increases you chance of living I don’t want to get into the number of traffic deaths because that stuff is just so sad but anyways when you learn to drive defensively you help yourself and others. Now of course you can’t control how other drive but you can control how you react and how fast you react. When you a defensive driver you should become free from road rage, which leads us to the next reason.

Reason number 2 to become a defensive driver is it should create one less maniac on the roads. If you practice defensive driving you will begin to see things about to happen before they do kind of like you will be come a clairvoyant of the road.

Since you will know how to react according with your practice it should cause you less frustration which should prevent road rage and we all know what happens with road rage and it’s not pretty.

As a side note if you think about it you are hurting your self in so many ways with road rage stress which leads to some many altercations, if you get in an “accident” out of rage it will drive you insurance rate up which will cause you to have less money which then will cause more stress can you see were I’m going, not to mention your rage could turn to instant death or debilitation,

Reason number three to practice defensive driving. At the end of that past paragraph insurance was mentioned well I let you think about this one, if you take your defensive driving certificate to you insurance agent what do you think is more likely to happen insurance rate go up or insurance rate go down.

OK did you figure it out great if not re-read that first part for eternity. Now that your insurance is down and you have less stress more money and a better chance of survival what else could there be.

So I bet you want to be a defensive driver now and help the road world be a better place well I’m happy for you just remember were you seat belt or else all these stuff is useless.

By the way there are many defensive driving courses on line some are boring but there is one that is made to be funny and interesting the courses range from 30-100 dollars. If you want to become a better driver, reduce points on your license or get a lower insurance rate I would recommend taking a defensive driving course.

Online Defensive Driving Course Material May be Superior to In-classroom Handbooks

Sunday, June 14th, 2009
Bill Derrick asked:

When a driver has received a moving violation, the last thing on their mind is the quality of the material that they will be studying in their state approved online defensive driving course. They usually just want to get through traffic school as quickly and as easily as possible, so that they can get on with their lives and try to get that ticket dismissed.

One of the recent innovations that has come with the web is the online defensive driving course. Students take this course in place of the traditional classroom-taught traffic school class, and receive the same certificate of completion that the other students get, while working from the comfort of home.

There are several reasons why someone might choose to take an online defensive driving course rather than going to the classroom. First is the convenience of location. For some, the nearest traffic school is halfway across town. Online schools allow them to work from their computers, and the web-based providers give them the opportunity to go one better and work from any Internet-enabled computer. That means the student can do some of their coursework at home and some at the office, or at a university computer lab, the public library, or even on a laptop at the local coffee shop. Location is key for these students.

Others appreciate the convenience of time. Taking a state approved online defensive driving course, depending on where the student lives, can be an all-day process. But with the web providers, students are sometimes permitted not only to work at any time of the day or night, but also to come and go from the course as their schedule permits, without putting in a minimum duration in order for the class session to count. That means that if the phone rings, the student doesn’t lose the ten minutes they’ve already put in, nor do they need to ignore the call. It can be very handy, especially in today’s busy world!

An often-unseen benefit to taking traffic school online, though, is the convenience for the instructors. Traffic schools are constantly updating their material to include the latest laws and regulations, which can be numerous from one year to the next. Just recently, a texting-while-driving law went into effect in California. This law was not on the books last year, so every traffic school in the state needs to address the change.

For an old-style classroom course, this modification could mean change pages inserted into a printed handbook, getting the word out to each instructor, and hoping that the information is passed along to students. In an online course, one person can go in and make the change so that all students see it at once. This gives the online students an advantage over others, not only in having current information but in knowing the latest laws to obey once they are back out on the road. That, in turn, makes it less likely they’ll be pulled over and need to take, you guessed it, traffic school.

Driver Education – How Parents Can Help Their Teenage Children To Learn Driving

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009
Brooke Hayles asked:

When your child turns 16, it is almost a certainty that the first worlds out of their mouth will be “When can I get my drivers license?”

While this is a milestone in your child’s life, it is important that they understand the importance of getting a driver education and realize that along with a drivers license comes great responsibility.

Depending on which state you live in, a learner’s permit can be obtained when your teenager is around 15. In order for them to get the license, they need to meet a certain criteria, which includes a specific amount of driving time.

When your child is ready for driver education, it is important that they have the right attitude. They need to understand that a driver’s license is a responsibility that is not to be taken lightly. They need to understand that they cannot have a nonchalant attitude. This could affect their chances of obtain a license if the instructor feels that your teenager is not taking the class seriously.

Although it is cool to show off, it is not going to help you get your license if you are eating or talking on your cell phone when you are behind the wheel. It is an absolute certainty that your instructor will not think it is cool.

When you enroll in driver education, it is important your states department of motor vehicles certify the school.

These schools are up to date on all of the rules and laws of the state in which you live, and can teach you everything you need to know to become a safe driver. Driving school instructors have to pass painstaking tests in order to be licensed to teach.

Parents of teenage drivers can help in getting driver education. They are encouraged to take their child out driving. The more road time they log, the more secure they will feel driving. It not only gives them confidence, it also gives you piece of mind knowing that they are safe drivers.

Patience is the key factor in driving with your teenager. If you are high strung and nervous, it will affect the driver. If you feel that you cannot drive with your teenager have the other parent or friend drive with them.

Before you let your teenager get behind the wheel, it is important that they know the rules of the road and what each street sign signifies. Make sure they study the drivers’ manual and quiz them often. He or she is bound to be a little nervous when they drive with you they want to impress you. If they forget what a sign means do not make a big deal of it, simply study with them when you get home.

An empty parking lot is the perfect place for your child to practice driving and get used of the car being used. This is especially important if your car and the driver education cars are of different models.

Make sure your child understands what to do in case of an emergency. This is crucial especially if they are driving and their tire goes flat.

Summary:

Driver education will teach your teenager the rules of the road as well as how to become a safe defensive driver. Quiz them often, even if it is a quick trip to the store, ask them questions about driving. It is important that you be supportive and not critical of the abilities. Building confidence is a major factor when it comes to teenagers and driving. If they make a mistake, let them know and continue to let them drive.

Route Irish and the Tenuous Connection of Baghdad ’s Green Zone

Monday, June 1st, 2009
John Parks asked:

In the city of Baghdad , the capitol of the Middle Eastern nation of Iraq , a nation occupied by American Military Forces, the International Airport is 12 kilometers distant from the safe area, called the Green Zone. Baghdad has an international zone at its city centre, around the Republican Palace in a crook of the Tigris River. This area is the heavily fortified headquarters for the International Coalition and Iraqi Reconstruction Ministries. It started out being called the “Green Zone” but was later changed to the “International Zone” in June of 2004 with the return of sovereignty to the Iraqi people. However, the inhabitants, armed forces, and media have returned to calling it the Green Zone

Only one road connects the fortified Airport and the besieged Green Zone, making it the most accessible and vulnerable target for terrorists. That road is called Baghdad ’s Route Irish, and is the single most dangerous road in the world. Many in the media incorrectly associate the name ‘Route Irish’ with the 69th National Guard Regiment out of New York , which is descended from an American Civil War unit made up of predominantly Irish immigrants. Baghdad ’s Route Irish is actually named after the football team of the University of Notre Dame, called the Fighting Irish. This follows the tradition of naming the Main Supply Routes (MSRs) and Alternative Supply Routes (ASRs) after sport steams. For example, there are other routes such are Route Giants, Route Senators, and Route Red-Wings.

Many dangerous attacks have taken place on Baghdad ’s Route Irish, with casualties on both sides of the divide. Given the restrictive nature of the Baghdad ’s route, through 12 kilometres of densely built city and the fact that it is the soul route used by businessman, military leaders, politicians, supplies and other high-value targets, terrorists often target the convoys and travellers. To defend against this, most convoys travelling on Baghdad ’s Route Irish hire private security companies such as Backwater (US), ArmorGroup (UK) and Erinys Iraq Limited ( Iraq ).

On Baghdad ’s Route Irish, these men, all former military or highly trained security professionals, are the only thing that stands between the terrorists and their prey. They use an array of modern security technology, ranging from small arms to assault rifles and grenades to heavily armoured vehicles with powerful engines and bulletproof glass and personal armour like bulletproof vests. The drivers of the vehicles train constantly in coordinated defensive driving, using two or more vehicles in a defensive formation to keep danger at bay for as long as possible. The men and women who defend the defenceless on Baghdad ’s Route Irish put their lives on the line with ever ride.

As often as possible, multiple companies will attempt to form convoys of multiple vehicles for added protection, coordinating via radio and hand signals as they drive. Sometimes the civilian contractors and businessmen will travel with military convoys for added protection, but there is no sure-fire defence along Baghdad ’s Route Irish.
